Edward H. Ridings, D.O.,  F.A.C.O.S.

Dr. Edward Ridings is the sole practitioner in Vallemont Surgical Associates.  He has been practicing general surgery in Lewistown, PA since August, 1981.

Dr. Ridings was raised in northern New Jersey where he attended all levels of school through high school.  After finishing high school he attended the Pennsylvania State University at University Park for 4 years and received a BS degree in biology.  While attending Penn State he met his wife Susan who also graduated from Penn State.

After college Dr. Ridings worked as a microbiologist at Schering-Plough pharmaceutical company in Bloomfield, NJ.  Dr. Ridings left that employment to attended Philadelphia college of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated with a D.O. degree in 1976.

Dr. Ridings did his internship and general surgery residency at JF Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, NJ.  Following this 5 year program he and his family, which then included his wife Susan, daughter Alexis, and son Adam, all moved to Lewistown where he has practiced his entire career.

Dr. Ridings non-practice activities include outdoor work around his home.  He also enjoys riding his Honda Shadow 1200 cc motorcycle.  Of course the highlight of each year is his 2 week summer vacation in Avalon, New Jersey with his family.

Dr. Ridings special interests in his surgical practice include minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery.  His other interest is breast care and breast cancer treatment which is why he has equipped his office with state-of-the-art equipment for breast evaluation.

Since Dr. Ridings is a solo practitioner, he prides himself on being available for his patients at all times through his office or through the hospital paging operator.
